How to Kill a Good Idea – Killer Phrases

Killer Phrases – Your team is trying to make a recommendation to solve a problem. Does someone in the group always seem to have a reason to kill it?  Be on the alert for these phrases and ban them. How would you as a leader respond to each of these Killer Phrases? Discuss at your daily/ weekly team meeting.  These phrases must be banned since they block your team’s efficiency and productivity improvements.  Learn how to react diplomatically when someone uses one of them. Maybe the resistor blocks team efforts in other ways too. 

Learn the four strategies they use:  Fear mongering, introduce confusion,  death by delay or ridicule of the suggester.  Learn the 10 reasons people resist change to the status quo and their real motives in the YouTube video below.  Is the Resistor the author of  the method you want to change (ego)?  Are they afraid of any change risk?  Are they a competitor of the suggester?
